Welcome to Emine Ari as Alexander von Humboldt Fellow

I am delighted to welcome Emine Ari as new Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow! Emine received her PhD from Koç University and was previously working at Bilkent University, University of Arizona and University of Idaho. Her research focuses on inter-state and intra-state conflict, political violence, terrorism, and states of emergency. Her scholarly agenda comprises two complementary research streams: one evaluating the dynamics of political violence, and another examining how states of emergency relate to international conflict and cooperation. Her methodological toolkit spans econometrics, causal inference, and geographic information systems (GIS), as well as multinational machine learning applications for text scaling and classification and event-data coding of cooperation and conflict between states and non-state armed groups.
